Using Science & Technology II, Rm. 9

During class...
To use the Wireless Microphone… 1. Unlock the padlock on the black cabinet (mounted on the wall in the FRONT of the classroom).
2. Align the number wheels on the padlock to the correct combination.
3. Hold the curved bar with your LEFT hand and the padlock body with your RIGHT hand and push them towards each other to open the lock.
4. Move the number wheels so no one else will see the combination.
5. Flip the green "MAIN POWER" switch "UP" to the "ON" position.
6. Flip the black "POWER" switch on the Volume Control Panel (below the "MAIN POWER" switch) "UP" to the "ON" position (so you will have sound when you play a VHS tape, use the wireless microphone, etc.).
7. Remove the Wireless Lavaliere Microphone from the cabinet.
8. Attach the battery pack to your belt or waistband (there is a clip on the back of the pack).
9. Attach the Microphone to your clothing near your neckline.
10. Push the "POWER" switch on the battery pack to the "ON" position.
11. Adjust the Microphone volume by turning the knob labeled "wireless microphone" on the Volume Control Panel in the cabinet.
To play a VHS tape... 1. Unlock the padlock on the black cabinet (mounted on the wall in the FRONT of the classroom).
2. Align the number wheels on the padlock to the correct combination.
3. Hold the curved bar with your LEFT hand and the padlock body with your RIGHT hand and push them towards each other to open the lock.
4. Move the number wheels so no one else will see the combination.
5. Flip the green "MAIN POWER" switch "UP" to the "ON" position.
6. Remove the large gray remote control from the cabinet.
7. Move the remote control's "POWER" switch to the "ON" position (located on the RIGHT side).
8. Press the "ON" button on the remote control (located on the FRONT) while pointing it towards the video projector in the projection booth at the back of the classroom.
9. Press the "VIDEO" button on the remote control while pointing it at the video projector.
10. Press the "POWER" button on the VCR.
11. Insert the tape and press the "PLAY" button on the VCR (unless the tape starts playing automatically).
12. Adjust the volume by turning the knob labeled "VCR" on the Volume Control Panel (the volume buttons on the remote control will not change the volume).
13. Rewind the tape by pressing "REW" on the VCR.
14. Remove the tape by pressing the "EJECT" button on the VCR.
To connect your laptop to the Internet… 1. Connect your laptop's power cable to your laptop.
2. Insert the power plug into the electrical outlet (located on the FRONT wall).
3. Connect one end of a 15-pin VGA cable into the "VIDEO OUT" connection on your laptop (often the correct connection is the only one where it fits).
4. Connect the other end of the 15-pin VGA cable to the "VIDEO IN" connection labeled "INPUT" (located on the FRONT wall).
5. Plug one end of a network cable into your laptop (some laptops come with a special adapter that links the laptop to the network cable).
6. Plug the other end of the network cable into the network jack with the red tab above it (located on the FRONT wall).
NOTE: You must set up your laptop to dynamically grab an IP address when you turn it "ON." If you are unfamiliar with how to do this, contact Susan Campbell (scampbel@osf1.gmu.edu) for help.
To display your laptop's screen on the projection screen in the front of the room… 1. Unlock the padlock on the black cabinet (mounted on the wall in the FRONT of the classroom).
2. Align the number wheels on the padlock to the correct combination.
3. Hold the curved bar with your LEFT hand and the padlock body with your RIGHT hand and push them towards each other to open the lock.
4. Move the number wheels so no one else will see the combination.
5. Flip the green "MAIN POWER" switch "UP" to the "ON" position.
6. Remove the large gray remote control from the cabinet.
7. Move the remote control's "POWER" switch to the "ON" position (located on the RIGHT side).
8. Press the "ON" button on the remote control (located on the FRONT) while pointing it towards the video projector mounted on the ceiling.
9. Press the "DATA2" button on the remote control while pointing it towards the video projector.
10. Turn on your laptop.
11. After the main Windows screen appears on your laptop, check to see whether you can see the same screen displayed from the video projector. If not, then check your manual to see what key or combination of keys you need to press to display the screen on both the laptop and projection screen.
NOTE: If the image on the screen is not centered horizontally on the projection screen, adjust it by turning the blue knob labeled "HORIZONTAL POSITION" (located on the FRONT wall near the VGA "INPUT").
NOTE: Often, you must press the [CTRL] key and one of the function keys once or twice. Usually, this function key will have a picture of a monitor on it.
To use the slide projector… 1. Unlock the Omni lock on the projection booth in the back of the classroom.
2. Press the "CLR" button on the Omni lock panel.
3. Enter your code.
4. Press the "CLR" button again.
A green light on the panel will flash.
5. Immediately turn the doorknob to the RIGHT and pull open the door.
6. Press the "ON" button on the slide projector remote control (located next to the slide projector) to turn "ON" the slide projector.
NOTE: The "POWER" button on the slide projector is disabled when the slide projector is connected to the remote control so you must turn the projector "ON" and "OFF" using the remote control.
