Employment
Finding a job is as easy as a click of a button which it comes to computer technology. When you walk into to chain stores like target the employment application is on a computer. Without knowing how to use a computer you might not get you a job in the future where computers are everything. College graduates want to begin their career right when they finish earning their degree. Therefore in order to help those students find a job a few career counselors came together and came up with the program LACN which stands for Liberal Arts Career NetWORK. This program allows different colleges to email each other about available positions, share information about job listings on-line and allow students and potential employers to communicate via the internet. A spokeswoman from Oberlin College’s Office of Career Development, Wendy Smith Huen, said, “This is a great opportunity to collaborate with other schools and to provide our students with even greater access both to potential employers and information about the job market.” Thought the use of combining internship and employment databases, LACN can provide corporate recruiter’s access to as much as 60,000 students. Who would have thought that 25 different colleges can all come together in search for a great career on one website? Computer technology has allowed many students to find the career or job of their choice (Flint, par. 8-10).
