The title is adapted from a hypertext project for one of my graduate classes (Studies in Rhetoric: Computers and Writing). pro — My goal is to become a pro at what I do and it drives my choices as a reflective teacher of composition. (top, title, colors, navigation) I started with the idea of using the three primary colors (red, yellow, blue). I note this because there is no way for me to know how each user's machine/browser will interpret the chosen colors. However, the thought behind this color scheme is that they are the building blocks for all other colors and the ones that children learn first and then learn to combine. This idea of building blocks is most relevant to my teaching practice in that I see one of my essential roles in the classroom as helping students build foundations of writing, regardless of their schooling level. (top, title, colors, navigation) Navigation Bar: I chose to place the navigation bar on the right rather than the more traditional left side, because I wanted to emphasize the content on the site rather than the ability to browse and/or link. Anchors: I also chose to place anchors (links that return you to another location on the page) in as many places as possible, because this is a text-heavy site and I want to give users the option to jump around quickly and easily as an alternative to scrolling. Site Map: a rather crude rendering in Word, to be updated and refined. (top, title, colors, navigation) [this page updated 5/2/07] |
