Biographical Sketch

Dr. Sims’ education includes a B.S. in Accounting from Northwestern University; an M.S. (with distinction) from the School of Systems & Logistics, Air Force Institute of Technology; and a Ph.D. in Operations Research (minors in Statistics and Mathematics) from Texas A&M University.

His career includes 28 years in the US Air Force where he served in positions in supply, education, logistics, and operations research, retiring in the grade of Colonel. Then he worked 18 years as a project manager and principal for Synergy, Inc. and ICF International, DOD consulting firms, managing projects in logistics and operations for Air Force and Defense Logistics Agency clients. He has taught statistics and operations research courses at several institutions as an adjunct professor before joining George Mason University in his current position.

His personal interests include family, fitness, gardening, and travel.
