My main areas of legal research, teaching, and writing are: Constitutional Law and Legal Ethics
Problems and Materials on Professional Responsibility (Foundation Press, New York, N.Y., 9th ed. 2006), the leading coursebook in legal ethics, along with a yearly supplement, coauthored with Professor Thomas D. Morgan. These books are used in approximately 254 different academic institutions (on the college or law school level.)
Six volume Treatise on Constitutional Law: Substance and Procedure (4th ed., Thomson-West, St. Paul, Minn. 2007-2008) coauthored with Professor John E. Nowak, with annual supplements, cited in over a thousand state and federal courts decisions.
Modern Constitutional Law: Cases and Notes (8th ed., Thomson-West, St. Paul, Minn. 2007), a widely used casebook on Constitutional Law.
Legal Ethics: The Lawyer's Deskbook on Professional Responsibility (ABA Thomson-West, St. Paul, Minn. 5th ed. 2007), a one-volume treatise on Legal Ethics, coauthored with John Dzienkowski.
Joseph Story’s Commentaries on the Constitution (Carolina Academic Press, Durham, N.C. 1987) (with introduction), coauthored with Professor John E. Nowak.
