"The phrase, 'US Constitution,' is a phrase familiar to Koreans, but in reality it is an area that is not easy to approach given our differing legal systems. However, the US Constitution is applicable in many different aspects of our (Korean) Constitution. Comparative studies of other countries' constitutions provides an important tool in understanding our current Constitution. Comparative studies focusing solely on the different countries' constitutions provide insufficient understanding of the constitutions' fundamental characteristics; therefore, an analysis of how the Constitution gets interpreted and applied through analysis of caselaw provides important insights into understanding the constitution."
