One thing I learned today was…

· That first year teachers need help and will receive it from other teachers (older and newer).
· That teaching is fun.
· That being a teacher can help others and affect their lives.
· The need of educators in the U.S because there are many shortages areas.
· That helping people is something I really want to do.
· Teaching has a deeper purpose than I had previously believed.
· Time management is very important.
· That behind every great person is a great teacher.
· Becoming a teacher is important and being a teacher is a beautiful thing.
· Teachers are always teaching and they learn everyday.
· That teaching is a tough but very rewarding profession.
· That not only is teaching an interesting job, I learned that there are different types of teaching.
· I can make a difference in other peoples lives.
· How committed to their students teachers really are.
· That if I choose to succeed and believe that I can succeed, than I will!
· Teaching is an experience that most teachers do not regret choosing.

· I learned that in order to really teach students and reach them teachers must be passionate about their work.
· There are always unexpected things to take away from your lesson.

The best thing about this conference was…

· The teachers that were presenters were humorous and energetic, and the cafeteria was great.
· The keynote speakers.
· I learned a lot about how teens and children act.
· Learning about education in other countries.
· That I could relate to some of the information I was hearing.
· The workshops.
· You get to see other people's points of view.
· Seeing all the other teens who want to teach.
· The teaching tips I received.
· The enthusiasm of the speakers.
· The music at lunch.
· Learning about different teaching skills.
· The information I received from the teachers that I can use in the future.
· Was the interaction in the sessions.
· The fact that everyone at the conference wants to help people and that the speakers were very inspirational.
· The information I received about schools around the world and what some of their needs are.
· The instructor's enthusiasm about teaching.
· The presenters in "Somebody Out There Needs You." They were interesting and informative.
· It prepared me more for the future.
· Mr. Mack was so moving and made eye contact with us the entire time. He was an excellent speaker and a motivator to me.
· Getting to hear first hand experiences and opinions about teaching.
· Being inspired by those that are teachers.
· Being around others that love teaching children as much as I do.
· Getting to see all the other inspired students.
·EVERYTHING!
· That "real" teachers were "teaching" us and sharing their own personal experiences.
· The "Teacher For a Day" session. The presenters inspired me they had so much energy.
· The first speaker, Carlton Mack, he was very impressive. He gave me goose bumps and he spoke of how he felt.
· Yes, I have always wanted to teach, even when I was 3-4 years old. This conference has given me the fire back. I am very excited and looking forward to getting my degree and graduate.
· Mrs. Gandy was a very good speaker.
· They helped me open my eyes to a better understanding and reason for wanting to be a teacher.


Has this conference changed your attitude toward teaching?

· I was not sure at first, but now I know I definitely want to teach.
· Yes, I want to teach more than ever.
· I am definitely going to be in an Education program.
· Makes me want to start teaching tomorrow.
· Yes, it seems like you get a lot out of teaching.
· Yes, before this conference I did not think that teachers made a big impact since so many acted like they don't care.
· To really respect the teacher. He/she works hard trying to teach us.
· The conference has made me more interested in becoming a teacher so that I can make a difference to someone.
· It has changed my attitude toward teaching by showing me that being a teacher is not only teaching but also bonding with my teachers.
· Yes, It made me realize that I need to believe in myself and trust myself more. I have a gift and I need to share it with other people in hope that they will someday do the same thing for others.

Some ideas that I can take back to my school from this conference are…

· That teachers can be involved in more than just teaching one subject, for example coaching.
· You should never label anybody.
· Making sure students have fun while they are learning.
· That teachers are valuable assets to our culture.
· To reach out to others in need, no matter how hard it is.
· How teaching makes you feel good about yourself.
· How to handle classroom situations.
· That we need a FEA club.
· Keep an open mind and take time for yourself.
· Is to share ideas with teachers on what I learned.
· Not to judge people.
· To talk with more students about education because we will need so many in the near future.
· I can make a difference!
· That there are many different kinds of teaching and learning and you have to try different styles to see what works.
· The guest speaker gave me hope to finding myself. He made me believe that if you want anything bad enough, you can achieve it.
· That teachers are human too, they deserve a chance.
· Advice from the first year teachers.
· Fundraising ideas and motivation for the organization.
· Having more respect for my teachers and to take them more seriously.
· If you do well in school now and then in college your dreams will come true.
· Making classes fun and "out of the box".
· That my teachers do have other lives but they do care about my work and my problems.
· To get involved more with the children, for example tutoring them.
· Looking at stereotypes and knowing how they came about. Also, how to change stereotypes.
· Respect yourself before you respect others, it makes a big difference.
· Keep an open mind.
· Be creative, enthusiastic, and patient.
· Learn to set goals for my future, and myself and work hard. Good teachers, although few, still exist.
· That teaching is an art that you learn from.
· Teaching can change student's lives and can be the best and most fulfilling job.
· That everyone is important and anyone can make a difference in a student's life.
· It is a great experience to work with children. To know you are helping someone makes you feel good.

· I would like to thank you for your time and dedication. I am leaving with a better idea of what I want to teach in.

· I really liked the "Somebody Out There Needs You" session. The presenters were really good and they were from lots of different viewpoints and ideas.
· It helped me to understand the things needed to grasp the concept of teaching. Patience, time, and flexibility are qualities, I possess now, but overtime will increase with the teaching of young children.

One thing I learned today was…

· That there are only 5% minority teachers and yet there are 40% minority students.
· How to work with different people.
· Generally students are very enthusiastic and excited to be here.
· We may survive the teacher shortage if some of these darling, enthusiastic young people go into teaching.
· That you need to contact PDK for a charter application.
· That many teachers are enthusiastic about their job.
· About sources of financial aid.
· Teachers are more in demands than ever in areas like Special education, math, science, technology, etc…

The best thing about this conference was…

· The variety of workshops and the quality of the presentations.
· Seeing young people interested in this profession.
· Networking!
· The outstanding presenters. They were realistic and interesting.
· The keynote address and the ability to choose topics.
· The variety of workshops available to choose from and lunch.
· The opportunity to meet other club sponsors.
· The enthusiastic responses of my students for the small group sessions and the gracious hospitality of GMU.
· Very well organized and nice variety of sessions available to appeal to all students.
· The smooth organization!!

Has this conference changed your attitude towards teaching? Explain…

· It has re-energized me towards teaching.
· I have been encouraged to do my job even better. Enjoyed being with new students.
· I am always a little more excited about the field after days like these and now to mentor more young teachers.

Some ideas that I can take back to my school from this conference are…

· To recruit more prospective teachers/students.
· Financial aid information and internship information.
· A sponsor for FEA and the financial aid information will be provided to all the students.
· Positive Attitude!
· Spend more time with my FEA Students talking about financial aid and the more practical aspects of getting into the field.
· Some fundraising ideas and charter ideas.
· Inspiration! In my teacher Cadet Class, I want to have them practice more lesson plans. The students really enjoyed that session!
· Remarks from Mr. Mack's presentation (esp. "There is greatness in this classroom.")
· Lots of opportunities in teaching.
· The power of hope and possibilities.

· How to build more relationships with children. Networking with other teachers in different countries.
