Getting up early in the morning for work or in the late evening, where else does any body look up for news and entertainment other than TV! Clearly, television has increasingly becoming the must-have luxury in every home. Like other big industries, TV broadcasting also has a wide variety of consumers. Inevitably, each consumer then would have different taste in what they receive from the TV broadcasting. Some might like a specific show, whereas other might think it less attractive or even offensive. Over the years, there are many debates on how TV should be or should there be any regulations about the contents that TV brings to its audiences.

TV broadcasting should be for the public good only. Since the viewers are the ones who keep this industry alive, TV producer should show some thing that reflect the cultural, good values that the society have. Or in order word, show them what they want. Different people would have different taste about TV broadcasting. Some might like it to be educational and good on the ground of personal moral, while some might like it to have more entertainment aspect including violence, offensive images, and other features which considered as bad. Today, TV broadcasting does a good job of arranging the content and time of the show they have. Kids can watch shows appropriate to their age before bedtime, whereas adults can watch their favorite in late night.

The role of the government about this issue should be limited. Their jobs should only be keeping those broadcasting company on the right track. Enforcing rating on each TV show is a good way to do so.

Personally, I think all the business all run base on these words "supply and demand". If there are demands about a particular TV show, then obviously the broadcasting company would simply supply them what they want in order to make profits. Most people would ague about the content of what the television broadcasts base on their moral and society standard, though those companies also have the constitutional right to broadcast. Therefore there is a knot that still unable to be remove among the viewers and the broadcasters. The broadcasters only show what some people want to watch, and if others don't want to, they can just simply turn off their TV and attend to others things.

My stand on this issue is quite in the middle, and it seem to be that there are many people who share the same view as mine on the polls. For most part, people can not decide to choose the extreme choices, like the government strict control over TV, or simply no to government's control. I think people acknowledge that some channels, shows on TV clearly is offensive against the moral standard, but they also believe in that people have the right to watch what they want, and that T.V is just there to make profit.
