From our perspectives from this modern time, movies, especially those that were made in the early time, appear to be boring and less intriguing. Though, movie-makers in that time really had a hard time to create a movie for the viewers. They had to go through a strenuous process called editing to make the movie viewable and more true-life. These techniques are known as overlapping, and intercutting which still are being use today. Though, as it seems, the technique of intercutting is more of a natural way of telling a story.

In the movie, the "Fatal Hours" made in 1908, the technique of intercutting was employed. As we can see clearly in the movie, the hero, otherwise known as the main charracter, raced with the time to save the girl. The director show the picture of a clock ticking as to inform the audience the the time is running out. THis is affective in a way that it provides the audience an obviously portrayal of what is happenning in the movie.

Movie doesn't necceassarily need to be straight-forward or realistic since it literally is the imagination of the writers and the producers. What it need is a way to portray and tell the story in a natural way so that the viewers wouldn't be lost when watching it. And the technique of intercutting is a perfect way to do so.
