Introduction

Technology has improved upon many aspects of the human life: from making communication between people easier and faster, to safeguarding bank accounts and other privacies, or even to simply heat up food with a touch of the finger. Technology has also improved the quality of life itself as well with its numerous advances in the health care field.

One important contribution is computed tomography, or CT scan, also known as computed axial tomography , or CAT scan. Computed tomography or CAT scan is a noninvasive x-ray procedure with minimum risks that uses a computer to take pictures of soft tissue, bone, and blood vessels and then compiles it into cross-sectional images to be used as diagnostic tools (Harris). CAT scan improves the quality of life because it can often results in early detection and an increased chance of success with treatment of diseases that are not able to be seen on standard x-ray.
