  • Centralized information
  • Information customized to people’s interests
  • Authentic, professional, credible informationUSA Today aims to appeal to a national audience.

USA Today stands out when compared with other newspapers:

  • Color pictures and photographs
  • Shorter articles
  • Bold print
  • Large diagrams
  • Articles that appeal to everyone – not just a select few.

Allen Neuharth
USA Today was founded by Allen Neuharth in which Paulson referred to Neuharth's life being a "Haratio Alger" story. Originally from South Dakota, Neuharth came from humble beginnings. Neuharth felt that newspapers didn’t represent everyone in the United States. He saw newspapers as being a business that was dominated by the east coast and the heartland was ignored. He aimed to deliver the news in a way that others had not.

A newspaper fit for everyone
Paulson points out that the advantage of USA Today is that it’s a paper that avoids bias. He explains that it is a paper that delivers the information with no particular political spin. Also it is a paper that can appeal to a wide scope of individuals whether it is the intellectually elite, business saavy, mainstream public or small town America.
