"Both parties need to talk"

Shaul Bakhash, a former journalist and current professor at George Mason

University is an expert on the history of modern Middle East with special interest in

Iran. He did not hesitate to deal with the tough questions, that Irani and Americans

need to ask each other. They is no dilouge, too much surprise even Irani students at

one of the most diverse universities, George Mason are reluctant to talk. Irani

patriots when asked these questions on first instinct sounded enthusiastic, but

refused when told that it will be video-tape. So much and so forth they did not

wanted to say anything political on screen, as it will be on the web and they can get in

trouble for saying something against the government, and it will be obstruct their

visit back home.

QUESTIONS:

  • What are the chief sources of resentment between U.S and Iran, both in earlier decades and at present?

  • What has happened recently to bring U.S.-Iran relations to the point of possible military confrontation?

  • What would the effects of a military assault or war be on all parties concerned?

  • What creative and practical alternatives are there to a military confrontation?

  • How can they be implemented in time to avert a possible disaster?
