Instructional Design Projects

These are the more relevant projects I have designed during my studes. Some of them have been developed individually and others have been done with a team.  Small assignments were also created through the courses, however, they have been posted on each courses page.

  1. Instructional design for a Spanish course for kids (Power Point presentation)

Spanish4Kids is a web-based project designated for kids from 5 to 8 years old to learn basic Spanish through the use of the different language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.  The prototype was created using MS Power Point. (Individual  project)

  2. Instructional design: Online course about Ethics in virtual environments

This product is an online course in Ethics in the virtual environment.  We worked in a group of three designing and development the content and the development.  We focused on ethics for the students, instructors and developers.  The product was developed using PHP and HTML.  (Team project)

  3. Personal website designed with accessibility in mind

This final project is a personal website created with accessibility in mind. That is, the website need to pass different accesibility tests and be XTHML compliant.  The site was created using PHP and XHTML. (Individual  project)

  4. Image of the IKIVI project
IKIVI: Internet for Kids with Visual Impairments

This final project is an informative website designed to inform people about accessibility sites.  The site also provides a guideline to web developers on how to create accessible web sites and information for the Spanish speaker community. (Individual project)

  5. How to make a piñata picture
Instructor Guide:  How to make a Piñata

"How to make a Piñata" is an instructor guide developed using Behavioral Modeling strategy.  The guideline was designed for a 60 minutes instruction and it uses a MS Power Point presentation that has not been published here. (Individual project)

  6. Workshop: Human Computer Interaction Process Analysis Image
    Instructor Guide:  HCI Process Analysis

"Human Computer Interaction (HCI) Process Analysis)" is an instructor guide developed using Nine Events of Learning from Gagne.  The guideline was designed for a 60 minutes instruction and it uses a MS Power Point presentation that has not been published here. (Individual  project)

  7. Thumbnail image of paper about GOMS theory
Paper:  GOMS and its use in the ID process

This paper, "GOMS and its use in the Instructional Design Process", provides a brief description of the origin of GOMS theory (Goals, Operators, Methods and a set of Selection).  It presents the application of
GOMS on the task analysis phase of the instructional design process. It illustrates the process using an automated tool named CogTool. The paper provides an analysis of GOMS and its relation with the epistemological traditions of learning and the theories of learning is presented. (Individual project)

  8. Thumbnail image of research proposal paper
Research Proposal:  A comparative study ...

The paper “A comparative study of learning performance between pilots trained by current training method and pilots trained by the HCIPA Web-Based Training on the Boing 737 Flight Management" is a research proposal.  During the course we learned all the different concepts needed to propose a research. This paper is the final product delivered during the course.

  9. Software Testing Online Course (Blackboard)

This was the final product created for this course.  It's an online course to teach Software Testing to Software Testing Engineers.  The course was created using Blackboard Management System. This was the tool tought during this class.  This course can be accessed only by George Mason University students.

  10.

This is an user manual for students who are taking classes using Blackboard Content Management System. The user manual was designed based on George Mason Universtiy students feedback.  This user manual was created by a group of seven students.

  11. Safer aviation - Learning from the past... (Moodle)

"Safer aviation - Learning from the past for a safer future" is an online course designed using Case-Based Learning. This Case-based course will immerse students on past accidents to analyze the situation, hypothesize causes, discover pilot's failures and master your knowledge on procedures to avoid accidents in similar conditions. This was the final project developed individually.

  12. Ecology Online Course (Blackboard/Moodle)

This was the final product produced with a team of 7 students.  We developed and designed a course for graduate students on Introduction to Ecology. The prototype was designed in Moodle and in Blackboard. The course in Blackboad can be accessed only by GMU students while the Moodle course can be accessed using the guest account.
