Practice Downloading a TI-83 Program from the Web
  1. The first program that you will download is the program SOUND from the Connected Curriculum Project. This is a self contained CBL experiment. The instructions and program are all on this page. Follow the instructions once you are there. The program is about midpage. After you download the program, click on the browser's Back button to come back to this page. You will have to specify a destination on your machine or floppy for the file transfer. Click HERE to get to the page.

  2. The second program that you will download is the program VOLT from the Connected Curriculum Project. This is a self contained CBL experiment. The instructions and program are all on this page.   3. As you browse through the TI web site, you will find the Graph-TI Calculator Program Archive. This is the place where you can go to get programs for the TI calculators and the TI-CBL. You will see a link, TI-83 CBL Programs on this page.

    4. When you click on TI-83 CBL Programs on the left of that page, you will see a list containg several TI-83 programs. We are interested in the files in the table below. This page is set up to get you to the programs directly. Click on each of these files below to get to the page for the download. Read the instructions. You will get grouped files and text files. You will have to specify a destination on your machine or floppy for the file transfer. Don't forget to read the text files for information.

    Click on this directory to get to page contaning the programs for workbook 3, Real World Math with the CBL System. You want to download the following programs. The link below will take you directly to the page.

  4. Ungrouping a File in Graph Link
    Note: The extension on a group file is 83g.
    Open Graph Link. Click on Tools, Ungroup TI-83 files. A dialog box will open. Find, for example, the chem-bio.83g file. Highligh chem-bio.83g and click OK. The next dialog box asks you for a target directory. Specify the directory and click OK. You will see when the ungrouping is complete. You now have *.83p files! You now have two choices.
    • You can now go to the menu File, Open, to open the program in Graph Link in order to edit or Protect before sending to your calculator. To Protect a file, check the lower left hand box in the program screen. Your students will not be able to edit the program on their calculator. This makes a program "safe" from an accidental change.

      • OR
    • You can go to the menu Link, Send and follow the instructions to download the program to your calculator.
