MAP AND NAVIGATION
The following is the site map outline. Main Menu items, shown in capitols, appear on every page. Under each subheading are further breakdowns of the material that do not show in this proposal but will be displayed when a Menu Option is selected. These subheadings will be available on the site map. For example, under Famous People would be a list of noteworthy individuals associated with the region. Under statistics would be a list of years (1950, 1960, etc.) so users can view the relevant data. The statistics category may also point to charts and graphics of trends and changes.
One problem with breaking up the material into categories is fragmentation. To alleviate that problem, the Historical Essays Section will have a set of essays. The essays will include links to relevant other sections and incorporate images from the site.

How to Use the Site
For the historical part of WFC HISTORY, navigation will be both chronological and topical. This division is arbitrary but some method of organization is required for the sake of a coherent logical structure and so users can quickly retrieve specific information. Documents will be prepared in sections for later linking. Normally, documents will be topical with chronological divisions of centuries, half centuries and 10 year periods. Where that is not possible, documents will be prepared for both chronological and topical presentations. Separate documents will be prepared for people, places and things. There will be a detailed site map and comprehensive search and browse capabilities. Browsing can be done for the major categories listed above. The image library can be browsed by year and subject category.
