Office of the Curator

The Office of the Curator functions as the introduction to this site. Originally conceived in the fall of 2005 as a project for a graduate history class, the Entartete Kunst website is a virtual recreation of a 1937 exhibition of modern art staged by the German Nazi party in Munich. The digital rooms of this on-line museum present images of the works exhibited in the original show.

The Office of the Curator will present the story behind the genesis of this site. The main points of information include:

Exhibit Hall

The Exhibit Hall will lead you to the heart of the site, the virtual Entartete Kunst exhibit. The rooms are “hung” with images of the artwork presented to the public in 1937 as the epitome and nadir of modern art in Germany.

If this is your first visit to the site, you may wish to view the tutorial. This will show how to use the navigational tools to move through the museum, as well as explain the information provided on each piece of artwork.
