My biggest thing in the last year has been tracking down my family history in the Civil War. My great great grandfather Melvin T Cobb fought for both the 42nd Ohio Infantry and the 178th. His records had been burned which made this search very hard. Melvin fought in Vicksburg, Champions Hill, Sherman's march through the Carolina's, two attacks that failed in Vickburgs, the bluffs and the Yazoo trail. He was 14 when he signed up for service in 1861 and made it through the entire war without being wounded. He is cuurently listed on a monument in Lorain County Ohio, that says he was in Antietam. He was near Antietam but I can't find any records to support this yet. Let me know if you have any history on the 42nd Ohio. He was in Company E.
