Trustee Weight responds, “Sister Grey, our church
Constitution states that we must go through the process of forming a Pastor
Search committee and must accept resumes and conduct interviews. When the
selection has been narrowed to three persons, then we can bring those names
before the church.” “You are talking in circles, Weight! You have not answered my question.” “Perhaps
I can explain better”, interjects Sister Norway. “Reverend Bernard is not being
considered because of his lack of experience and education. The surveys that
were conducted indicated that the church wanted a Pastor that had a college
education, so we are trying to meet the requests of the congregation.” “I did not put that on my questionnaire!” exclaims
Sister Lassings. “If the man can preach
the Gospel and bring souls to Christ, who are we to demand that he have a
college degree? Jesus did not have a college degree and He can lead me any day
of the week!” “Now Sister Lassings, we
are not implying that Rev. Bernard cannot preach, he has done well as our
Acting Pastor, but we just don’t see him as a good fit to lead our church. Everyone begins popping up shouting words in
support of Reverend Bernard.
