Custon Tagging for Centralized Research
- Share a single tag among collaborators
In a collaborative research project such as ours, we should create a single collection of all web-based resources we find that everyone in our seminar can easily access and build throughout the life of the RING project.
We can do this via the creation of a custom tag. A custom tag is simply a unique, single-word description that each person in a research project uses to mark those resources relevant to the collaborative project.
- Seminar B's custom tag for NCLC 203, Spring 203 is nclc203seminarB. Just replace the letter "B" with the letter of your seminar. For example, the custom tag for Professor Muir's seminar will be nclc203seminarA, and the custom tag for Professor Anderson's seminar will be nclc203seminarF. It's critical to remember that the tag is a single word, and that all the letters are lower-case.
- Applying a custom tag. Every time you are browsing the web, and encounter a resource that might provide data, research or analysis relevant to your RING project, remember to add your seminar's custom tag when you bookmark, via delicious, your resource
- Accessing your collaborative, centralized bookmarks. This is slightly tricky, but just remember the following process:
- Go to delicious.com and log in
- Once you are logged in, o to the delicious home screen (http://delicious.com) not to your personal delicious screen
- On the right-hand side of the screen, look for the link that says: Explore a tag
- Click on that link and you will reach a screen entitled Explore Everyone's Tags
- In the dialog box below the title, type your seminar's custom tag
- a comprehensive list of your RING projects collaboratively collected and tagged resources will appear (once you have tagged some resources, of course)
- If you want to experiment with the process. follow the above steps and type nclc249f10 into the dialogue box. You'll see the links related to digital culture and internet new
