Introduction
Part Two, The Teaching Assignment, of the Group Project Guidelines sets out the key criteria for your peer teaching session:
- everyone in the group needs to participate in the final presentation as well as in the organization and planning process.
- the session will need to be substantial and significant, incorporate issues and debates from the class, and be able to be completed by everyone in the class within your time limit of 45-60 minutes
- the session should primarily involve hands-on interactivity for all participants
- you should provide “take aways” (on- and/or off-line) for the audience so that it can continue practicing after the teaching session is over.
Your proposal should explain in precise (but succinct) detail how you will meet each of the above criteria. You should also include at least one paragraph/segment in your proposal which identifies relevant ideas from the readings/viewings you have completed so far that you might integrate into your teaching. If you have ideas for your takeaways, or any other aspect of your presentation, do include them in your proposal.
Remember that in a proposal you are selling an idea to someone (in this case, me) and thus you should marshall as much persuasive evidence as you can to bring your plans for your teaching session to life. Again, you do not need to present text: you may communicate your proposal in the way that best suits your plans.
