Laura Mann is an opera/music theater artist living on the cutting edge of creativity, -- known for performing and recording the world premieres of new solo vocal music by female as well as male composers. Dr. Mann, who is Professor of Voice and also on the Womens' Studies Faculty at George Mason University has been featured yearly since 2004 in "Who's Who In America" and in "Who's Who Among American Women," and chosen recently for inclusion in the 2008-2009 edition of Cambridge "Who's Who Among Professionals, Executives, and Entrepreneurs" for the broad scope of her work in the Arts.
She has also been awarded nine consecutive Touring Grants -- through 2009--from the prestigious Virginia Commission for the Arts -- to tour with four separate award-winning programs: "The White Cliffs," a one-act, one-person opera/monodrama by Natalia Raigorodsky, based on the true life story of American Susan Donne, who fell in love with a British soldier during W.W. I. Also
her recital "In A Woman's Voice."
This recital has already garnered outstanding press reviews
across the country: "Beneath the magnificent stained glass
windows and soaring piers of the 98-foot vaulted ceiling in
the Washington National Cathedral, Dr. Laura Mann, a petite
woman in a lovely flowing gown, performed In A Woman's
Voice. Her clear, shimmering
soprano ascending to the heights of the cathedral ceiling and then
fluttering down over the audience seated on the marble floor
of the great central hall provided a musical performance
of sophisticated tranquility." (Washington Review Magazine,
Washington, DC) and "Laura Mann gave a dazzling performance
at the Promenade Concert Series recently. her recital was polished
and professional, sung with impeccable musicianship..." (The In dependent, Montgomery, AL) are just two.
The other award-winning programs are "Operatunity," a dynamic evening of staged, costumed opera and music theater excerpts utilizing some audience participation; and "Stellar Highlights From Music Theater," - a compelling program of staged, costumed scenes from music theater.
