The Desert Path
This is a photo I found online but I know for a fact that I have walked this exact path a hundred times. It is out in the western part of the valley and there is a guided tour of the different types of cactus by labels. It was one of the first places I went in Arizona, and by coincidence it was one of the last places I went before I left. Okay, so this may not exactly fit here but what the heck - in my mind there is a connection between the desert and Xanadu, because it was right after we moved there that HBO came out and Xanadu was one of the first movies I saw. I wanted to live in a world of roller skates, leg warmers, and white skirts that flew up when you twirled - otherwise known as Xanadu. Another theme throughout this mystory is associative thinking and hypertextual thinking, which as we learned in Ulmer began with the Xanadu project. .
