Searching
When I was almost four years old, my family moved from Essexville, Michigan to Tucson, Arizona. I was in the height of my formative years, and just beginning to grasp the larger world around me when all of a sudden the world got a LOT bigger. I wasn't told we were moving, one day a truck just showed up at my house and the next thing I knew my world was turned upside down. This was my parents story - their decision to drastically change their lives, and mine and my brother's lives forever. They left their families and friends and moved to this strange town in the desert - searching for something different than everything they had ever known.
This search has been a reoccurring theme throughout my life. I grew up hating the desert and resenting the fact I wasn't able to chose where I lived. So - as soon as I was able to, I started moving around the country - bouncing back and forth between the east and west coasts - searching for something different than everything I had ever known.
