Salt on the River

This is just a typical image of Bay City...I find myself really connecting with the idea of place and mood in Ulmer and the punctum of this picture is the mood it gives me. This is the type of day I remember from my childhood, a bit cloudy, on a river with signs of industry typical of the Great Lakes. The mood it brings in me is being small around something larger that I don't understand, I guess - hard to put into words.  The hills were these big white things that men had made, obviously, but I had no idea as to why.  One of those mysteries...Then I remember my parents talking about the "White Mountains" in northern Arizona, long after we had moved.  These were what I thought they were talking about...
