3)--Create your 209 and 101 course pages

The more you learn this semester, the more you will want to alter your home and course pages. Feel free, but you must upload your pages today. All of your assignments for EDiT will be posted on your 209 course page.  Your 209 course page will have link to your Engl 101 page, where your composition assignments will be posted over the course of the semester.  On your 209 page be sure to include a link back to your home page as well as to you Engl 101 web page.  Your homepage is usually your public_html/index.html page and will include a link to your Engl209 and Engl101 pages. Assignment--capture an image
1) Find an electronic image(s) related to your Engl101 or other course.  If you have a concurrent image assignment from an English Department course you are taking, you can copy and paste that assignment onto a new 209 page and put a link to it on your 209 course page.
2) In your public_html directory on local (flash or other drive), you may want to create a subdirectory called "Images" and save your images there.  Otherwise save your image to your public_html or other subdirectory.
3) Capture your images (as a JPEG or GIF) and insert it (or more precisely, insert an image source equals link to it) on a new blank page.  If you are worried about copyright restrictions, create a link to an external source for the image.
4) Record the following information if you can find it (or paste the information on the image from your other English course):
--The URL where you found the image;
--The original image's source (where it came from before its web debut);
--The photographer or illustrator;
--The year the original photo was taken or illustration was finished;
--Discuss in detail the point of view of the image and how it relates to your topic.
5) Upload the assignment to your server space and put a link to the file on your 209 webpage.

Assignment--personal page MT5 group 2 and MT6
--Many of you have used your home page (your index.html page in your public_html folder) as a personal expression page.  If you have decided not to take this approach, create a separate page which expresses your personality, history and/or interests using texts, links and images.  We're not asking you to think in terms of an academic paper.  You don't have to do research; this is your opportunity to get creative and develop a more personal hypertext that prominently features hypertext links and images.   You can use an existing home page or create a new page where you introduce yourself to the class. The purpose of this assignment is to encourage you to play with techniques you might not want to use in a regular academic paper.

Assignment--final EDiT project
--Digitally enhance something you have written in Engl 101 or another course. This project will demonstrate your understanding of the rhetoric of images and hypertext and mastery of basic web authoring tools. The writing you enhance should come from a course you are taking concurrently with ENGL 209. If you are taking another English department course, the writing you start with must come from that class (use your narrative on a visual scene if you are taking David Beach's Engl 101).  But if you are not currently taking one of our courses, you can take writing you have done in another class and digitally enhance it.   All of the links, images, targets and digital enhancements should support your thesis or story.  Don’t forget to add a works cited page (or section) with active links and an account of how you used each of your sources.  Upload the assignment and put a link to it on your 209 course page.  Call it your Final Project.
