This
semester began with a trip to Hemlock and ended with creating this
portfolio. From the moment we got on the vans to Hemlock, I knew that
this semester was going to be something I had never experienced before,
and I was right. Throughout the semester, I was constantly being
challenged whether it was walking across a ladder several feet above
the ground or writing a four page paper in one afternoon. I was
constantly learning new things. My first semester at George Mason
University was both challenging and rewarding. It was challenging in that I had to do a lot of writing and was usually given a day or so to complete tha assignment. At first, it was very difficult for me because I was a slow writer and liked to take a couple days to develop my ideas. As the semester wore on, I was able to write four page papers in one afternoon. It no longer took days for me to develop my thoughts. Now it takes me an hour or so to come up with ideas and start writing. |
My first semester at George Mason
has also been rewarding. I have become a much better student. At the
begining of the semester, I was weak in several areas such as critical
thinking and information technology. As the semester progressed, I
became more confident in my skills. I was able to write papers that
looked critically at the ideas of some one else, and I was able to
create a website. Throughout this semester, I have learned skills that
will be with me for a lifetime. As I move into the next semester, I hope to continue to improve the skills I have learned. Now that I have the tools, I want to sharpen them so that they will be more useful to me. I want to continue to grow in the areas of critical thinking and information technology. I also want to improve my communication skills and my group interaction skills. I have a long way to go in becoming a life-long student, but this semester has given me the building blocks to become one. |
