Trinity created a sense of family. My
senior class had a total of fifty students. many of us were in classes
together for over six years. We grew up with each other, and because of
that, we were very close to one another. We all took care of each
other. We laughed together, cried together, and supported each other. Halfway through our freshman year at Trinity, the father of one of my classmates passed away unexpectedly. He had gone into the hospital to have back surgery. While he was in the recovery room, he had an allergic reaction to the anesthesia and got sick. No one was around to help him up so he choked and died. The family was heartbroken. I remeber the day that my class found out the news. We were heartbroken as well. We all sat down in the English room and prayed for the family. We cried for them and asked that God would comfort their family. After we prayed, we created a huge card. We filled it with verses and words of encouragemnet that wold help this family get through the pain. We attended the funeral and tried to support the family any way that we could. We were greatly affected by this death, but we were determined to overcome the tragedy together. At the end of sophomore year, one of my best friends became extremely ill. She was dizzy all the time and had horrible migraines. Sometimes the pain was so bad that she couldn't even stand. I would have to hold her up and walk her to class. For six months, we did not know what was wrong. The pain just continued to get worse. Finally, she was diagnosed with Lyme's disease and Pot's disease. The doctors began treating her, but she was still in a lot of pain. It was very hard for her. She was in excruciating pain all the time, and she could not walk straight. My class supported her and encouraged her continually. We created a "Bowl of Sunshine" for her. We would fill it with comics, verses, and words of encouragement to uplift her spirit when she could not even get out of bed. One day, we all brought in flowers for her. We set her down at a large table and covered it with all different kinds of flowers. She was so blessed by everything. We supported her every step of the way, and we continue to encourage her to this day. At the end of our senior year, we were sad to go, but we knew that it would not be good bye forever. We are still a family even though everyone is spread across the country. Trinity helped us to become a family. We may not have been related by blood, but we were brothers and sisters in Christ. We took care of each other and loved one another. If one of us was in trouble of needed help, we knew that we could call any one of our classmates, and they would be there for us in a second. This is what it means to be a part of a community. Everyone helps each other out and takes care of each other. Putnam believed that by interacting socially with one another, society and the world would be a better place (Putnam). My classmates and I interacted with each other constantly and helpd each other through the tough times. In the end, our school became a better place. By loving one another, we left no room for anger or hatred to enter. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 says, "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in the wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, endures all things." |
