I am a native of Connecticut, and am the youngest of five children. I moved to Virginia in 1992 to realize a dream of having a view of the Washington Monument from my apartment. I have always been patriotic and enjoy following politics. Washington DC inspires me.
I spent my first four years in Virginia working as a Special Education Teacher, teaching children with visual impairments or blindness. I received a Masters Degree in Assistive Technology at George Mason University in 1997. I am currently working as the Assistive Technology/Web Accessibility Coordinator for the Kellar Institute for Human disAbilities (KIHd) at George Mason University. My responsibilities at the KIHd include, coordinating both the Assistive Technology Initiative and the Web Accessibility Initiative, and directing the activities in the Assistive Technology Computer Lab for the Graduate School of Education. I am also pursuing a doctorate in Education at Mason with a focus on disability policy.
When I am not studying, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends in DC
and sea kayaking.
In October of 2004,
I joined a Habitat for Humanity International Team and built houses
in Botswana. While on Safari the
team had a visit from a lion while at the campsite. Listen
to the audio of the lion's roar and team reaction.
