"There is much of life passed on the balcony in a country where the
summer unrolls in six moon-lengths, and where the nights have to come
with a double endowment of vastness and splendor to compensate for the
tedious, sun-parched days."
Balcony Stories, Grace E.King
One Way, Juanjo Fernandez

For my remix project, I chose to use my own work rather than anything from any other published book. I specifically chose the first page of my unpublished novel because I believe it has the most captivating imagery. When I began my remix of the page, I was not quite sure what my purpose was. I had seen pictures and examples of other remix work that was similar, but I did not know any real techniques to begin.
At first, I was particular about the words that I chose, because I wanted to use them to turn into another creative sentence. As I continued down the page, however, I simply let my creativity expand. I began to choose words that stood out to me, specific words that inspired certain emotions within me. For instance, “promise”, “pleaded”, and “scurry”, were words that stood out to me in the text. I circled them with the intent of bringing the focus away from everything but the meaning of those words. Each word has such depth, emotion, feeling, and life, and I wanted to saturate the audience with its meaning by removing all other words—removing distracting words.
I enjoyed this project because I felt that I could let my creativity run free. I probably could've done more, but because I have so little computer knowledge, I had to stick to a pretty basic remix. However, I enjoyed making the delibrate changes to this work, it proved to be interesting and delightful.
