Christina Multimedia

The first club that I chose was Christina Multimedia. The website for Christina Multimedia is www.christinamultimedia.com. Christina Multimedia, also know as CMM, is a non-profit club and website. It is a website and club that specializes in archiving multimedia of Christina Aguilera. It is a club that works as a system based on teamwork. The club was originally built and currently is still ran by club officers and the members of Christina Multimedia.

The type of audience that Christina Multimedia caters too is Christina Aguilera Fans. Christina Multimedia has different levels of membership. They have VIP members, Senior Members, General Members, Minor Members, and Public Members. Public members are not counted into the total for the amount of members that CMM has. As of March 27, 2006, CMM has 731 members.

The site was created by a man named Hmers. Hmers is the administrator of Christina Multimedia.com. He is a man from Canada who wanted a place where people could come together to talk about Christina, have forums, archive Christina’s work, and further explore the world and knowledge of Christina Aguilera. Christina Multimedia was first created in 2001 by Hmers.

The club operates as a network based on teamwork. The club has a few club officers. They have a director for almost every section of the club. The directors are people in charge of a division of Christina Multimedia website. The officers are known as the Super Administrator, Communications Division Director, Promotions Division Director, Multimedia Division Director, Public Relations Division Director, Interactivity Division Director, and Translations Division Director. Under the Directors are the managers. Managers are in charge of a particular section of the site or team. All executive decisions are made by the administrator. However not all decisions are made my just one or a small amount of people. Because Christina Multimedia is an internet based club and they do not have any face to face meetings, the club has online meetings. Any meetings that the club has are all held on online forums. An online forum is where a topic is posted and other members can post their opinions on the topic.

The leaders of Christina Multimedia communicate in many different ways with the other members of the club. One way that they communicate to the other members is through a monthly newsletter that is sent to the e-mail addresses of all the members. In addition to sending out an electronic newsletter they also hold forums and discussion boards on the website for members to discuss and converse about Christina related topics. Christina Multimedia also has online chat areas that are set up for members to discuss various topics and anything pertaining to Christina.

Christina Multimedia is only an internet based club and as a result of this, anything that the club does is on the internet. Due to the fact that CMM is an internet based club, and members from all around the world are in the club, the club does not hold any face to face meetings, activities, dinner dances, or anything alike. However, the club does allow you to donate money, enter online Christina related contests, and other fun related Christina activities.

After exploring this online club, I learned a great deal about it. Christina Multimedia.com is a great place where fans from all around the world can get together, upload pictures, archive the work of Christina Aguilera, talk and discuss Christina Aguilera, enter contests, and stay informed about what is going on in the world of Christina Aguilera news.

Mugglenet

The second club that I chose was Mugglenet. The website for Mugglenet is www.mugglenet.com and it is a website based club. Mugglenet is a club where fans of the Harry Potter book series and the Harry Potter films can come together and discuss, have online forums, take polls, and more.

The target audience that Mugglenet strives to reach is the fans of the Harry Potter book series and the Harry Potter films. Mugglenet has over 3,000 members and it is constantly growing in number.

The website, Mugglenet, was created by a young man named Emerson. Emerson is the current founder, owner, and webmaster of Mugglenet. Emerson first started the club in 1999 when he started home schooling. He found he had a few extra hours of time on his hands and he decided to create a club for Harry Potter fans that would unite them and allow them to discuss anything pertaining to Harry Potter.

Emerson is the Mugglenet club president but Mugglenet has three different divisions for its club officers below him. The categories for club officers are Senior Staff Members, Staff Members, and Editorial Staff Members. Executive club decisions are made by the club officers and often times polls are made for the club members to fill out and discuss or tell how they feel about a certain topic. However, as the club is an internet based club, there are no face to face meetings. Officers hold online meetings to conduct club meetings and discussions.

As a result of Mugglenet being an internet based club, Mugglenet does not offer any face to face meetings, rallies, activities, or dinner dances. However, Mugglenet does post and keep members informed about Harry Potter related happenings. If a fundraiser or something similar is going to be taking place in a certain area, the club website will inform the club members about the event. Also, when hurricane Katrina hit, the website had a place for club members to donate and raise money for the victims.

The club leaders and officers communicate through posting online topics that club members can reply to and discuss. Forums, Polls, and Newsletters are also a few of the ways that Mugglenet communicates with its members. Mugglenet also has online chat areas that are set up for members to discuss various topics and anything Harry Potter related.

In addition, Mugglenet publishes an online editorial. Mugglenet publishes different columns that are written by the Editorial Staff Members. Some of the columns are “The North Tower,” “Spinner’s End,” “The Magic Quill,” “Underground Lake,” and “The U-Bend.” Occasionally, the Mugglenet publications will have a special section where non-officer members have submitted an article to be published.

After further exploring the online Mugglenet club, I understood in greater depth the details and the attributes of this specific club. Not only is this club a great place for news and current events in relation to the Harry Potter book series and the Harry Potter films, but it is also a wonderful resource and an index for anything pertaining to Harry Potter and the Harry Potter world.

Christina Multimedia and Mugglenet

The two clubs that I explored were very informational and helpful. However, both of the two clubs that I explored could have been improved in some areas. In both of the websites it was very hard to find information about the club and their purpose. It was hard to find information like “Why the club was started” and “In what year that it was started.” Overall the two clubs were very knowledgeable and helpful.

This assignment has helped me practice the Information Technology competency of the NCC. The exploration of the two very different club websites was very helpful for the Information Technology competency. This assignment has helped me better understand how a club and club website can bring people together to work together as a team and to talk and share a common interest.
