Introduction
My name is Kira Cherrix, and I am a graduate student at George Mason University. I am in my fourth semester, and working towards a Masters in Applied American History. I currently have a Bachelor of Sciences in Biology, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Mary Baldwin College, which I attended from 2002 to 2006. My current historical interest, and field of focus, is nuclear testing and the Nevada Test Site.
Hmm...
Why is a biology/history major making a website? Well, this website is being created as the result of a project for my History and New Media class. To the left, you will find links to my various assignments, as well as a link for my final project, which is, of course, a work in progress. My final project site will grow as the class progress, and, hopefully, it will improve. My final project is a website about the atmospheric and underground nuclear testing that occurred at the Nevada Test Site from 1954 to 1992. It contains information about the effect the testing had on the culture and people of the surrounding area, as well as on the United States as a whole. My hope is that it will be an interesting, yet enlightening, and informational site for all who visit.
