Scrolling vs. Paging Websites
>>>In an article called "Scrolling vs. Paging Web Sites" found on www.imakenews.com, writers at the Interactive Media Associates Inc. discussed which is more desirable for internet users: Scrolling pages of text, or to have one page of text then click to the next site. >>>It appears that the length of a story is the determining factor on whether scrolling or paging is more desirable for a particular news story. If your story turns out to be a good couple of pages, users are not going to want to have to constantly be clicking to get to the next page, however if you use the scrolling method, users will have to constantly have to scroll back up to find any information they may have missed before. >>>Scrolling sites do seem to have the upper hand however because they are more printerfriendly for readers. When asked why then use the paging method at all, the writers of the article that there is elegance of having content all on one single page at a time. >>>In the end, the length of the story and the decision of the writer will determine if a web story would be best displayed using the scrolling method or the paging method, and they will see how readers respond based on the number of hits their story recieves.
