Mack McLarty Discusses Work as Chief of Staff Under

>>>Former Chief of Staff, Thomas "Mack" McLarty of the President Clinton Administration, spoke to George Mason University students to discuss what it was like to work in the White House under the former president and what he has accomplished since then.

>>>When McLarty was asked by a student what was it like to work under President Clinton, McLarty replied,"Bill and I were and still remain good friends". Despite many of the scandals that Clinton was known for rather than his acts as president, McLarty whole heartedly said, " He [Clinton] is a great politician, man, and friend. It was an honor to serve under him and I cherish our friendship to this day.”

>>>With the 2008 Presidential Election vast approaching, many of the students were curious as to who McLarty will be supporting. KT Trotman, a junior a George Mason, commented, "Although Mack is a democrat and many people would consider his opinions to be bias, I would like to know who he's supporting. He's worked in the White House. He's seen everything".

>>>Although McLarty did not provide a definitive answer to who he will be voting for in 2008, he did speak very highly of President Clinton's wife, Hilary Clinton, who has shown interest in campaigning.

>>>"[Hillary] is a very smart, strong, and proven capable woman,” explained McLarty, “not to mention, she’s already seen the rigorous demands of a campaign.”

>>>Although he is no longer involved in the political scene, McLarty currently works as Senior Advisor for the Carlyle Group, which is one of the world's largest private equity firms.
