Advantages

2) Email queries are efficient

Disadvantages

1) The reporter may not know who is actually replying to the email

2) Email denies the reporter to ask spontaneous questions

3) You have to be very specific with the questions you ask because you can not do a follow-up immediately

4) Emails are not good for getting an unfiltered reaction

5) An online interview may net you a useable quote, but probably won't produce a revealing interview.
