On April 24, 2007, former Senate Majority leader, Tom Daschle, spoke with university students on CSPAN 3. The students involved in the video conference were from Pace University, George Mason University, and the University of Denver.

During the interview, Daschle discussed what he has been up to after losing his re-election back in 2004 and how he feels about the upcoming 2008 presidential election.

Currently, Daschle is teaching at Georgetown University and is a Special Policy Advisor at the Alston and Bird Law Firm. Daschle has been enjoying his time out of the political spotlight because it allows him to work on promoting issues that are most important to him.

“I am currently working on national security, foreign policy, climate change, and health care reform,” explained Daschle. “This new free time allows me to focus on issues I find most prevalent.”

In regards to the upcoming 2008 presidential election, Daschle was not hesitant in showing is support for democratic candidate, Senator Barack Obama.

"I think Barack Obama is ready to lead and the polling data agree that Americans are
ready for it," exclaimed Daschle. "He will be the next president."

Daschle continued to explain why Obama would be a better candidate for the presidency then Senator Hilary Clinton: “Barack Obama has the ability to inspire, he is a visionary, and he and I share the same views on most issues.”

Daschle intends on supporting Obama through the race of the 2008 presidential election as he continues his duties at Georgetown University.
