Apocalypto!!!
Pretty awesome movie all in all. It was very very bloody and a number of people and animals were speared, stabbed, and generally dismembered. The ending was somewhat dissapointing, but if all you really want is action, it's pretty good for that.
I kind of created an idea that i'm fielding with my friends. Generally, the western world focused on the relationship between man and God in past time periods. We interacted with other people, but that interaction was governed by commandments by God. After the "death of God" as it has been called, we entered the modern era and there was a God-shaped hole left inside us. We tried to fill it first with our own egotism and philosopy, but that does not lead to any satisfaction. Empiricism is cold and unfriendly to a sad spirit. There is again the illusion that we are interacting intellectually with others, but it is only done to feed our egos. We utilize a Darwinian style of thinking, where our ideas compete with one another in order to gain dominance. This is similar to natural selection and competing, evolving species of organisms. Instead of competing we should try to actively engage one another in discourse and in that way connect with other individuals. Two people with opposing viewpoints at a fundimental level, can never agree, but they can engage in a meaningful discourse. Why can that discourse and interconnection not become the new morality? Why must we pursue a Darwinian strategy of adversarial ideas and opinions?
Yeah I know it's pretty rough around the edges, but I'm workin on it.
