Fun weekend

This weekend is awesome. I just got back from a Nationals vs. Mets (baseball for those not in the know) game in DC. I had never been to an A team game before. Nats lost, but oh well. Also, I went to IKEA and got a lamp and a dimmer and such. Hurray for lighting.

I just, just got back from the Memory Walk for Alzheimer's research and care. It was at like 5:45AM, but it was still good. I did that with Alpha Phi Omega, and it was awesome. I helped hand out shirts, food, do kids stuff, and set up and take down tents, tables, and chairs. I think that does it for my hours now!

Let's see, the rest of my day is pretty low key, maybe some sleeping. Hilary's glasses will come in soon and my dad says they look awesome.

Finally, tomorrow I get assigned a little at the Big pagent. I guess that means I have to get some clues for my little. Off to the shops.

I know I haven't been posting very much, but a lot has been going on. Also, for those who are asking, Hilary and I are still good, and if you're really concerned, just come talk to one of us.

-Till later!

Crazyness

My weekend has been quite crazy. I've had 2 exams and a paper right after I get back from the weekend, so i've had to intermittantly study. Next to that, I had an awesome sleepover with the scholars crew down in Lincoln, some rather fruitless studying with Janet (sorry if I lowered your score), and overall didn't know what was going on this weekend. Hilary and I came out of it OK, even though we're seeing things a little differently now (for the better for sure).

Otherwise, lots of APO stuff coming down the pike and I'M FINALLY GONNA TAKE A LITTLE!!!! Go Bostonians!

An idea....

Well, I was thinking on the way from SUB I to here about how to enhance one's education. It seems to me that an awful lot of time is spent walking to and from place by one's self. I know I do that for about 30 minutes each day. Personally, I listen to podcasts or music in between, but I know a lot of people just kinda walk. That's all well and good, but if you had an extra 30 minutes of interesting content each day, I think everyone would be a lot smarter. I'm considering adding a part to my website about the "Textbook of Now," which is basically the idea that one can learn just as much about what is old and well known as they can the happenings of the present. This textbook changes from day to day, sometimes from hour to hour. That's why the rise of podcasts makes it possible. Also, magazines and journals are striving to become more available to "regular people" nowadays. Most magazines have an online component now, for those who don't like getting a paper copy (though that's what I like).

Anyway, if you want some ideas on how to read the Textbook, drop me a comment or ask me. I've spent a lot of time looking for my own "chapters" and I feel I have a strong understanding of some concepts that maybe "book lurnin" doesn't teach.

Other than that, I'm kinda chillin, kinda working this weekend. Drop me a line if you wanna hang out.

Off to dinner with mentee!

3-Day Birthday?

For some reason, my bday has landed on a Thursday, so Hilary and I are pretty much gonna do a few things over a few days instead of trying to jam it all into yesterday, my official birthday. I had some pretty long, tiring classes yesterday (though not as bad as this semester's honors classes, arg!), so I'm pretty ok with the plan. I got a few card from my parents/dog/church and I'm gonna post those around. I also got a great gift certificate to Amazon from my sister (and all music and dvds are pretty much all i'm wanting around now anyway, it's pretty awesome). I had dinner with APO at Noodles last night, but Hilary is taking me somewhere else tonight. Also, there's some kind of clandestine "get-together" tomorrow....more on that later....or not?

I have a lot of work coming up this weekend and an exam pretty soon too. All in all, wayyyy too busy!

Also, if you're interested in microbiology, check out http://www.gmu.edu/org/asm, where I've been going crazy writing the site for us bio people. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Man, so busy!

I feel like every day is packed to the max. I have so many rush events, ASM things to do, and even some scholar stuff I have to attend. In botany right now, so g2g, but just though I'd make a little post.

Other than that, I can't wait for the weekend....it'll be sort of stress free....

Back!

I'm back in Richmond from camp and will soon be back on Mason's campus! Hurray!

I took 59 through bhood this weekend and our overall conversion will be about 45% for the year. If you're confused, I now use my jedi mind tricks to erase this paragraph from your mind, BWAH!!!!

Finally, just got two cool Bob Seger cds from my parents and a book about investing on cd too. I like um a lot!

See everybody later!

Quick update

Well, once again I'm blogging before botany class.

I've only got a few classes today, then off to an ASM meeting, and then finally, I have a JC dinner with APO. Tomorrow I go on Ordeal and will return on Sunday afternoon/evening.

Today I also go to George's with some frosh, too.

Great lip-sync of Bohemian Rhapsody until it all goes horribly wrong!

After the hole in the wall, nothing really matters!

Back from retreat and lots of other crazy stuff

I went on the Scholars' retreat this weekend at Hemlock and it was pretty awesome. There was much hanging out, discussion of random stuff, crazy physical challenges, and overall, kinda lousy food. It was pretty awesome, as I said before. Got to know a few scholars even better and my new mentee is Andrew. I also found out that Bode is my grand-mentor too, which was cool. Oh and ultimate frisbee rocked!

After all that, I was so tired I crashed for 2 hours in the scholars' lounge couch....so nice. I wish I could do that now....so early!

When I had recovered, I went with Hilary and John to DC for Monday morning and we went in the American History Museum the last day it will be open until 2008. Half of it was closed, but I hadn't been there in ages. We tried to find a sub shop that John really likes but had to settle on Pentagon City Mall for lunch.

After all that we went back to Mason and went to our fraternity (APO) training session for the semester. I'm really excited about rush this year and I will post the schedule as soon as it's official.

Finally, we went to Ike's and met up with some cool freshman.

Overall, pretty fun filled Labor Day weekend, which is kind of a rarity for me.
