general update

I've been off the blogging wagon for a day or so, so here I am.....

Anyway, the last two days have been meh so not much to discuss there. I've been getting my fixes of Doctor Who (a british sci-fi drama) and a little The 4400 (the last one was a to be continued......). Other than that I'm working so much I feel like my time is no longer my own. It makes it tough sometimes, I guess, but eh, soon I'll be back at school.

I love my big, new picture of the Hilary....it's very pretty on my dresser!

All the little scholarlings are lots of fun to talk to, but they are notoriously hard to find online when they are not "away." I guess their lives are still interesting, while mine is not.

I think I'll be going to Colonial Downs for the 4th of July, it twill be fun. No fireworks though, for they scare horses *lazer show instead*.

Thanks everyone who gave me feedback (meaning you know it exists) about the Ribs page....those who read this and haven't looked at it....oh wait you all have.

Oh and I wrote my first check today!

(please something interesting happen.....my life is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO boring!)

Long shift

Man, today was a really frustrating day!

I had to work more hours than I expected doing things I'd just learned to do and didn't do very well. Doing a lot of send-sales was very testing and I hope i never have that many again!

I did get some ice cream in the evening though and watched Kingdom of Heaven with the folks though, so that was cool.

The Rib site is up, please check it out!

Back from Orientation

Well I'm finally back. Basically it was a great time. I got to see Hilary a whole lot and we had lots of fun runnng around the different malls and getting very soaked. It rained and poured all the days (and is still raining as I type).

Orientation itself was a blast because I got to help out with the new scholars and kind of relive my own first experiences at Mason. (oh and hey to any new scholars who read this!)

Digg.com has updated itself and I think it looks ok.....it's a little big for my browser though....

I plan to create a part of the site for BBQ rib ratings.....details later!

This weekend....

My boss made me stay oafter for like 1.75 extra hours for work.  He forgot when I got off and then promptly left for lunch for an hour so I couldn't leave. It was no fun :(

Now that i have the next 4 days off, i plan to go up and see Hilary and help with the Scholars' Orientation events.  It's gonna be great fun to go back to NOVA and both Hilary and Scholars will be awesome.  Then i work for the rest of the week.

Oh and for those who I haven't told.....tiered internet bad, net neutrality good!

Rare "Rainbow" Spotted Over Idaho (photo)

The arc isn't a rainbow in the traditional sense it is caused by light passing through wispy, high-altitude cirrus clouds. The sight occurs only when the sun is very high in the sky (more than 58° above the horizon). The hexagonal ice crystals that make up cirrus clouds must be shaped like thick plates with their faces parallel to the ground.

Day off

Today I begin a little easier week, as I said in the previous post.

I got my physical today at my new doctor and now I plan on going down to the Scout center to see if I can get my T-Shirt idea and sizes in.  I also need to buy some new uniform stuff.

Last night I began using my wikipedia account (GMULoyaleagle) and it was pretty easy and fun.  I mostly just modified things that I'm familiar with personally.

Maybe I'll go to karate too...

Things are gonna start easing up now...

Well, the worst is over and I feel much relieved that the hard part of this week is over. I was rather upset today and felt very frustrated about my inability to keep the positive attitude that is pretty much nessesary to sell stuff in retail. Fortunately Hilary and my dad were both available to talk to at lunch (2:30pm), in fact my dad even showed up to see the store. overall, it has been a very rocky day.

I did get to see X-men 3, though and that was awesome. Not gonna spoil anything, but a lot of suprises in this one. Also I got to see the Snakes on a Plane trailer!

Tomorrow I work another 8 hour shift, but it starts later and ends later so I'll be able to have a pretty decent amount of sleep and a reasonable (if early) lunch. Lunch...I love lunch.

Lunch is pretty much the most important thing to me when I work. Not only do I really need that food in the middle of the day, but just sitting down alone really helps me recharge and get my game (as in "spiel") face on.

Such a long day...

Work was really hard today. Just seemed endless and the transactions were hard and a bunch of stuff was troublesome.

I went to [karate] class today and that was fun. It's good to get to do that stuff still.

Tomorrow I need to finish up some stuff for NOAC, but other than that, it's all good.

Only like 9 days till I get to see my hilary....yay!

My NewPicasa Web Album

Dell RAM

I love my extra 1 GB of RAM (total, 1.5 GB). So fast, so smooth, so clean

I will be trying to get a google online album so I should be posting that as soon as a get an invitation. (wow, i got the notification for it as I wrote these words)

Pretty long day at work, but I got through it....only 2 more 8 hour shifts......

Finally, I will be going up to help the scholars with orientation and will be able to visit Hilary when I go up there.

Boing Boing: Electrical substations disguised as houses

Electrical substations disguised as houses Toronto Hydro, the electrical authority in Toronto, has spent decades building electrical substations that are disguised as typical family houses:
In 1987, Canadian photographer Robin Collyer began documenting houses that aren't houses at all – they're architecturally-disguised electrical substations, complete with windows, blinds, and bourgeois landscaping. "During the 1950s and 1960s," Collyer explains in a recent issue of Cabinet Magazine, "the Hydro-Electric public utilities in the metropolitan region of Toronto built structures known as 'Bungalow-Style Substations.'
These stations, which have transforming and switching functions, were constructed in a manner that mimics the style and character of the different neighborhoods."

MP3 Recording: Trying to cancel AOL

Here's a recording I did of a conversation between myself and AOL while trying to cancel an account I no longer needed. It was old, and I hadn't used it in a REALLY long time, I just never got around to cancelling it. Enjoy!

Big day

Well today I sold a lot of stuff. From luggage, to clothes, to shoes, I grossed $1745 today. Crazy!

Anyway, I also opened the store on my own today....aside from the scary noises the store makes in the morning when you're all alone.......it was all good.

Tonight I don't have much to do other than get up for the next early morning shift.....

Promotion!

Great news. I did a number of chores today, but most specifically, I got a promotion at work. My manager has decieded to make me a temporary Key Holder for the Orvis store. I get a raise and really not that many more responsibilities than I already have. Hopefully, I can do a good job in the next week, primarily to prove to myself that I am ready for this new position.

I finally get to go to another karate class. Yay, weapons!

Oooooobooooontooooo...

Well today I didn't too much more than work. Helped open the store and bought some clothes with my discount.

I tried to load Linux Ubuntu, but I think I loaded the wrong type onto my CD (what a waste of a CD-RW :( ). I'm just gonna wait and have them send me a prepressed CD instead (free!).

3rd Key...

Good news, the management seems to think I'm good enough to have a store key. I'm gonna be getting a key for the next week so I can help open the store. Hopefully, I can gain a little more responsibility if I do well in that. Overall I'm pretty glad.

Also, I left my bag at the Chapter 7 Meeting...not so glad.

Super Saturday.....on Saturday....

that's it.....

Flaggggg!

Today at work....no lunch till 3 and my code (to let me get a commission) does not work yet....enough said.

Also, I went to my troop banquet today and, aside from seeing a lot of old faces, recieved my Eagle Scout flag (flown over the capital in my honor) and discovered that the new ASM of the troop is a Vigil. Quite good news all around. Also, I might have found another of many candidates for replacement (as Bhood chair).

Tomorrow I work the same and hopefully I'll be a little more autonomous and profitable.

What a great weekend!

Wow, so much to talk about.

First of all, I talk to Hilary all the time (there, I said it!).

Anyway, Ordeal was great this weekend. I helped 20 Ordeal members seal their membership this weekend in Brotherhood. The weather was good except for a little bit of rain on Friday. Our service project put in a new set of steps for our camp, which the lodge has been really needing for a long time. Later we had a really good hike and the adults all seemed impressed with my "final remarks."

The New Member Breakfast, LEC, business meeting, and LLDC all went very well and I became the chairman of the NOAC '06 Planning Committee. I have lots more work to do, but I think it will be a great help to the contingent this year.

Hope everyone else's weekend was good, too!

Off to Ordeal

After a morning of figuring out how to do online stock trades and getting ready for the weekend, I'm almost ready to leave for Ordeal. This weekend may be rainy, but otherwise it may be pretty normal.

I'm also planning to announce to whoever cares that my aging-out will be in a mere 4 ordeals from now, so I will need to begin training a replacement. Hopefully I can find somebody in the next two seasons. It'll take a while for anybody to learn my job, in case I can't come back from college at some point. Fortunately, I should be able to stay on as an advisor even after I age-out.

I'll be back on Sunday and will probably spend the day resting up and doing laundry (so I'll have something to wear on my Monday shift at work). Have a good weekend!

All better....

It seems as soon as I got Mom's homecooked meal in me, I got much better. Thanks Mom!

Sick.....

You heard me, I'm sick. I feel really aweful, actually....
I've got some kind of stomach bug or something. I have pain all over the right side of my abdomin and nothing seems to make it better. I had to go home from work after only 2 hours...what a waste of a day. :(
Oh well, I hope I get better by tomorrow.....the next three days or Ordeal.

Another day, another....day of work.......

Well, so far this has been a reasonably tough week. At Orvis we have all been doing crazy amounts of stock checking and I know I'm tired of it. Hopefully some stroke of luck will have gotten Rich (my manager) to put in for my personal code on time and maybe I'll get it today. Anyway, I'll probably post later on how it went....
