Keep is Simple..Stupid!*

Web readability is 25% slower then that of print. Therefore, you have to write 50% less text.

Make sure to write for the reader's scannability This means put key words, phrases or sectionalize information so that the reader can quickly skim and pick up the information it wants to find.

Tips:

• Structure pages with different levels. Use headlines, sub-heads or nested headlines. Try to go to two or three levels inside each page.
• Use meaningful rather then funny headings.
• Highlight to emphasize words.

Hypertext

Hypertext is a way to highlight text.

Use it to link to other pages in the web or to deep link for more information.

DO NOT use it to break up a story. Try to use it as a highlighting mechanism because people will look for certain things. For reasons to make scannability see the Six rules of web writing.
