I am a graduate student at George Mason University working towards a Master's degree in English with a concentration in Professional Writing and Editing. Thanks to my previous experience in numerous types of writing, I have a strong background in print journalism and considerable skill in editing, proofreading and research. In addition, I have some experience in technical writing and page design. Now I am investing in my graduate studies so that I can improve my skills in all of these areas. My goal is to become as proficient a professional writer as I can so that I can make meaningful contributions through my writing to any organizations who may seek to employ me in the future. Writing is important to me because it is an engaging and enjoyable means of expression. I like books, and I like to communicate my thoughts on various topics through the written word. It is both fun and challenging to choose the right words and sentences to use in a piece of writing, and it is important to understand the audience to whom you are communicating. Only by knowing who your audience is can you compose a document that speaks effectively to that particular audience. I always take enormous satisfaction when I create an article, essay or other kind of text that I know is well-written and effectively describes the ideas that I want to convey. |
