aim: A new feature of the Third International Conference on Design Computing and Cognition is the Doctoral Student Symposium. The goal of this symposium is to bring together doctoral students in an international forum for presentation and discussion of their research in an interactive and comfortable environment. Students will present and discuss their research that may be in formative stages. Senior researchers at the symposium will strive to provide constructive feedback to help the students complete their dissertation and initiate a research career. |

Symposium format: The symposium will be held over four half day sessions on June 21-22. Students will make short (15-20 mins) presentations of their research
proposals, which will be followed by a (10-15 min) discussion. We expect that the symposium participants will also register and attend the main DCC'08 conference.
Participation: Participation in the Doctoral Student Symposium will be limited to 30 doctoral students from any discipline and working on any topic related to Design Computing and Cognition.
Submissions: Please send an email request to Prof. Ashok Goel (goel@cc.gatech.edu) by June 6, 2008. Selected participants will be notified by June 9, 2008.
Funding: There is no registration fee for the Doctoral Student Symposium. Travel awards of at least $500 per doctoral student participant are available through a grant from the US National Science Foundation to support the Symposium.
