Kreps is working on The Fairfax County Health Literacy Initiative, a new community partnership between Fairfax County Government (led by the Fairfax County Library), The Inova Health System and Mason to develop research and outreach programs. The goal of this initiative is to better meet the health information needs of vulnerable populations in Faifax County. A planning grant has been provided by The Medical Library Association to organize the initiative.
Kreps is also working with The Kaiser Family Foundation on a national study about the ways insurance providers are marketing new Medicare health coverage plans to senior citizens. Kreps and his colleagues have gathered data about television, radio, print, direct mail and in-person marketing strategies being used. The project is funded by a grant from The Kaiser Family Foundation.
