It’s a subject that many of us are obsessed with and that some of us will never admit to being obsessed with: the lives of celebrities. While the television shows and the scandals may seem like enough to satisfy a moment’s relaxation and entertainment for the “normal” person, tabloids, gossip columnists and the infamous paparazzi live for the details, and rumors, that surround the people we have helped immortalize. Only, are they really immortal? We read the stories and laugh at the craziness, but when you really look into the consequences of this "gossipical" life, has it gone too far?
A GMU student expresses her opinion on the media obsession with celebrities. She admits to holding no interest in reading tabloids, watching reality television, downloading celebrity gossip videos, or reading any gossip blogs. Does the fact that a person who doesn't pay attention to the aforementioned celebrity enhanced media outlets, yet still knows so much about them, say anything about how far the media has gone?
