Usually Ipyria is a bustling sea-side town. Today, however, things seem too quiet on your long morning walk into town. As you stand in the middle of town square, you begin to hear unsettling noises from the outskirts of town. The few people on the streets today all scurry into shelter to take cover. Fearing the worst, you decide getting inside might not be a bad idea. To the north, you see the town’s tavern. Typically, it’s filled with the scum of the town. You consider whether you’d be better off inside its doors or out here with whatever’s approaching. To the west is a cluster of shops: the Gumballeria, Ye Olde Ice Cream Shoppe, Queen Victoria’s Secret, and Stardubloons. Most of the shops look closed, but the Shoppe’s saloon-style doors are still swinging softly from another citizen running inside. To the east, you spot the town’s old lighthouse. The light inside hasn’t worked for some time, which is compounded by the fact that the town’s coast is often covered in a heavy fog. The door had been boarded up, but you seem to recall some kids breaking in to vandalize the place. Lastly, your house lies far behind you to the south. What do you do?

Run for the Tavern--you’ll take your chances with the evil you know over the unknown.

Run for the ice cream shop--its swinging doors may not provide much cover, but you know it’s open.

Run for the lighthouse--maybe you’ll draw less attention in the unlit tower on the secluded beach.

Run for home--it’s a ways back, but you know you’ll find safety there.
