Durwood is a recent addition to the Grant lab as he participated in the Biology Fall 2018 research semester. His work with the lab has focused on immunohistology and histology. Durwood has stained IPF and normal tissue sections in the search of a surface marker that can identify a unique population of cells within the IPf lung. Durwood is continuing that work in the Fall of 2019 as an OSCAR Undergraduate Researcher Scholar. He will be aiding in the validation of mouse models through the scoring of fibrosis in histological section and the identification of fibroblast infilitration of murine alveolar tissue using immunocytochemistry.
