Reflection: EDEP 822: Advanced Learning, Self-Regulation, and Motivation The
advanced self-regulation course was one of my
favorite courses as a PhD student. I have always been interested in
self-regulation and motivation and taking courses related to these
concepts
expands my knowledge about the different theories. Specifically, I have
focused
my research around Ford’s (1992) Motivational Systems Theory and
Zimmerman’s
(1989) Triadic Theory of Self-Regulation. I have practically ignored
all the
other theories of motivation and self-regulation and courses like this
one
helps to expose me to other theoretical frameworks. Although I do feel
that many
of the self-regulation theories are very similar, I still feel that
Zimmerman’s
theory of self-regulation makes the most sense. Additionally, I feel
that these
theoretical courses are the most helpful in terms of improving the
quality of
my writing due to the writing and reading intensiveness nature of these
courses. Overall, this course was both a review and expansion of my
current
knowledge of self-regulation and motivation theories. Compare and Contrast Theories Paper Self-Change Project Research Proposal |
