Writing and Editing
Listed below are a few writing and editing works I have done over the years.
senegal interview
This is background research I did, through my past internship (Global Tryst) in preparation for an interview with Amadou Lamine Ba, Ambassador of Senegal. Though schedule conflicts prevented our interview meeting, the same questions were used by another writer who did manage to get the interview. The resultant article is featured on Global Tryst's website.
the market
This is a creative non-fiction piece styled after the New Yorker's "Talk of the Town" essays. I wrote this piece after going to a Valentine's Day event in Zig's in Alexandria, VA.
ginnie
This is a creative non-fiction piece, a profile of a wonderfully free-spirited, eccentric woman I studied with during my stay in England.
minimalism
This is an essay about the art style known as Minimalism. It's a rather lengthy paper that discusses the history, theory, and implications of this art form.
postmodernism
This is an essay about the "school of thought" known as Postmodernism. I wrote this as my final essay for a critical theory tutorial in England. The tutorial began with studies in psychoanalyses, structuralism, colonialism, feminism, modernism, and all their corresponding post-isms.
a classroom dialogue
This is a quick writing exercise in which I tried to include only dialogue. I was in a tech classroom and the instructor was speaking at the speed of light. The students were so lost, and so was I. So, I made use of my time by writing a portrait of the moment.
