Dr. Verardo has been an Affiliate Professor at George Mason University since 1998. Previously she was a researcher at the Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University and taught at Mary Washington University and Piedmont Virginia Community College in Virginia and Queens College in New York City. She has worked on climate-related research with colleagues at the United States Geological Survey and has held the position of Associate Program Director in the Paleoclimate Program at the National Science Foundation. In addition, she is the President of an environmental consulting company, a registered Professional Geologist, a Master Horticulturist, and a research associate with the Virginia Museum of Natural History
