Interpol's most infamous function is the distribution and dissemination of the Notice System. This system flags data files and information according to a rigidly defined set of flags or "notices" that interested officers can use to browse Interpol databases. The files are labeled with any of six main color-coded labels, each color corresponding to the following type of information:
  • RED
Request for arrest with the intent to extradite and deport.

  • BLUE
Requests information on subjects who have allegedly committed a crime.

  • GREEN
Provides intelligence on subjects who are likely to commit crimes while abroad.

  • YELLOW
Seeking information on missing or abducted individuals and children

  •  BLACK
Requesting information with regards to unidentified bodies.

  • ORANGE
Warn organizations of potential threats from concealed weapons explosives or materials
