Step 3: How are you going to display your content?

In most cases where a website is presenting information, it is not the most practical approach to have all the content thrown together into one big direction-less wad. It is important that your website is designed to best showcase your content. It should be easy to understand and/or follow a logical flow.

In the case of an online art portfolio, there are several ways that artwork could be organized and presented. They could be categorized by different mediums or organized into a timeline that shows a progression from the earliest to the most recent projects. It would be up to you to decide what best fits your content and audience.

The process would not be any different for business' websites. If, for example, the website was advertising a new product, it would be difficult for a potential customer to want to buy the new product if they were confused or unhappy with the advertisement.

How will you design the navigation of your website to complement the flow of your content? While it may seem like the amount of thought and consideration put into this should result in something fancy and exorbitant, it does not have to be complicated. If anything, it would ideally be simple and logical so that users do not have to think very hard about getting around your website.

After you have created the content and structure of your website, you can move on to designing the website to make it more visually appealing which will be further explained in the next step.
